Alexander to Adjust Water Bills for Prevention of Freezing Service Lines
03/07/2014 - The City of Alexander is joining a growing list of communities that will be offering residents an adjustment on their water bills for leaving the water run in an effort to prevent frozen water lines. City Clerk, Rosie Bird tells KLMJ News the Alexander City Council this week approved for her to base the next water bill for customers on their previous water bill. Those who run water are asked to contact Mayor Daryl Baxter. Bird says residents in Alexander are encouraged to let a stream of water run to keep lines from freezing. Even with warmer temperatures on the horizon, service lines are still susceptible to freezing as snow melts and frost levels rise.
