Aplington-Parkersburg spring sports update – 5-2-24

The Aplington-Parkersburg tennis teams will both compete Thursday. Coming off a third place finish at Monday’s conference meet, the girls will compete at a quad at Wartburg College, hosted by Waverly-Shell Rock. The Falcons will face stiff competition from the hosts, Osage and Clear Lake. It’ll start at 4:00 p.m.

The boys tennis team will play at Grundy Center. Coming off a runner-up finish at Tuesday’s conference meet, the Falcons are 5-4. The Spartans placed third at the conference meet, including a runner-up finish by Tanner Laube at #1 singles. They’re 4-3. The Falcons won 9-0 when the teams met last season. The meet will start at 4:15 at George Wilhelm Sports Complex.

The girls soccer team will look to snap a four-game losing streak while going for a home upset of #12 (2A) Iowa Falls-Alden. The Falcons are 5-8. The Cadets are 9-1 and have won seven straight. The Falcons won 2-1 when the teams met last season. It’ll start at 5:00.
