Just over 30 percent of Iowa is now drought free, this according to the latest U-S Drought Monitor Report for the week ending Tuesday.

The number increased from last week’s 23-point-52 percent.

All the drought categories showed improvement, except there was a slight increase in the abnormally dry category.

In the broadcast area, a small part of southern Hardin and western Hancock Counties are abnormally dry.

Eastern Hancock, portions of Wright, northwestern Franklin, western Cerro Gordo, portions of Hardin, southeast Butler, and almost all of Grundy Counties are in a moderate drought, the rest of the local area is in a severe drought.
