The recent rain and snow in Iowa has helped the drought situation.

The latest U-S Drought Monitor Report shows that through Tuesday, almost 21 percent of Iowa is drought free, compared to about 14 percent last week.

The coverage area for abnormally dry conditions increased to 22-point-64 percent this week, but the coverage area for moderate drought dropped to just over 55 percent.

In the broadcast area, southern Franklin, southern Wright, all of Hardin, and the southwest corner of Grundy County are listed this week as being abnormally dry, while the rest of the local area remains in a moderate drought.
