Several Dike-New Hartford spring sports teams will be in action Monday.
The golf teams will host the DNH Wolverine Invitational, an 18-hole tournament at Fox Ridge Golf Course. They’ll face some unfamiliar opponents, being the only NICL school at the event. It’ll start at 12:00 p.m.
The Dike-New Hartford girls tennis team will return to action by hosting South Hardin in NICL action. The Wolverines (4-1) are coming off a split at a triangular at #9 (1A) Pella Friday, where they beat Webster City 9-0 and fell to the hosts 5-1 in a rain-shortened dual. Head Coach Reegan Zinkula says especially in doubles, the lineups are still being worked out.
“W’re still trying to figure things out too,” Zinkula says. “Like Lauren Muller has never played before this season, so plugging her in there with just one individual this early in the season is hard to do. So it’s good to see different lineups. We do that all the time at practice. I tell them that no one’s stuck with the same girl. We don’t practice with the same girls every day. Sometimes I mix them up even JV and Varsity, it’s good for all girls to be able to play with everyone.”
South Hardin (1-4) is coming off their first win, 5-4 over Union last week. Action will start at 4:15.
The #6 (1A) girls soccer team (4-2) will look to bounce back from last week’s 1-0 loss at #10 (1A) Hudson when they host Colfax-Mingo in a non-conference game that’ll air on 99 The Wave. The Tigerhawks are undefeated (6-0-2), coming off a 7-1 win over Benton in their last outing. Meadow Lane has 23 goals, the most in Iowa among all classes. Gentry Swarts leads the Wolverines with 10. Pregame coverage will start at 5:20, followed by the kickoff at 5:30.
In their first meet since the Drake Relays qualification cutoff, the girls track & field team will compete at the Hudson Relays, which will start at 4:30.
