Six of the eight Iowa Falls-Alden spring sports teams will be in action Monday.
The girls soccer team (4-1, 4-0 NCC) will look to remain undefeated in North Central Conference play when they host Garner Hayfield Ventura (3-2, 1-1 NCC). The Cardinals are the last team to defeat the Cadets in conference play, a 1-0 score in May 2024. Sophomore Grace Hartford.
“I just want to show Garner who’s boss,” Hartford says. “Last year after that defeat at home, I want to get them back. That’s my main goal, is just to get Garner back.”
Senior Adessa Gillespie says they’ll need to contain leading scorer Bella Schisel, who has eight goals on the season.
“I feel like we’re definitely gonna have to keep it all on our side with Garner, because there’s one person on their team that will just take off with the ball,” Gillespie says. “So we gotta stay more in our midfield and not let the forwards and whatever get the ball.”
It’ll start at 5:30 at Cadet Field.
The boys soccer team (0-3-1, 0-2-1 NCC) will go for its first win when it travels to Garner Hayfield Ventura (1-3-1, 0-2-1). In their last game, they tied 0-0 against Clear Lake. The Cardinals are coming off a 3-1 loss to Hampton-Dumont-CAL. It’ll start at 5:30.
The girls tennis team will look to bounce back from three straight dual losses when it travels to Grundy Center. The boys tennis team will look to build on the success of last week’s 9-0 win over Webster City when it hosts the Spartans. Both meets will start at 4:15.
The golf teams will host triangulars against fellow Hardin County schools AGWSR and South Hardin. The girls placed second and the boys won last week’s home tournament. The boys will play at Highland Golf Club and the girls will play at Meadow Hills Golf Course. Both meets will start at 4:30.
