The Aplington-Parkersburg School District will host community meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, where residents can share feedback on the failed 2024 bond referendum. They’ll be Tuesday at the high school library and Wednesday at the Aplington Elementary/Middle School library at 6:00 p.m. both days.
“The facility planning group is going to have some staff on hand really just to get community feedback,” Superintendent Travis Fleshner says. “The board has really opened up to the fact that everything’s kind of back on the table, if you will, and that let’s take some time to get some more feedback from our community. We know our bond referendum didn’t pass last November, but we really want to get feedback from the community. What did they find positive, and what things maybe didn’t they like about that proposal?”
Residents are also encouraged to complete a survey about the referendum.
“The board plans to take the things we’ve learned through that survey, and then things that we hear and learn at these community meetings to really kind of help shape some future planning for us. Right now I think I can be very, very open with our patrons. All options are back on the table again. And we really want to again, just hear from the community. What kind of things do you see as important for us going forward?”
Fleshner says the feedback will be used to formulate plans for a possible future bond referendum.
