The Aplington-Parkersburg girls tennis team defeated Oelwein 8-1 at home Monday. Peyton Klooster won 8-0 at #2 singles. Jayden Krausman won 9-7 at #6 singles in the closest match of the night, among the highlights. With Tuesday’s dual at Waverly-Shell Rock as part of a five-meet week, they’re entering a grueling stretch of the schedule, according to Head Coach Haley Schneiderman.

“It’s gonna get busy,” Schneiderman says. “We’ve got Waverly and Columbus and then Decorah the week after, so we’ve got some more big ones coming up. Dike-New Hartford was good to kind of see where we’re at, and I’m looking forward to see how we do with Decorah and Waverly and Columbus as well and see how we match up there.”

It’ll start at 4:00.

The boys tennis team won 9-0 at Oelwein. Noah Harbaugh won 6-0, 6-0 at #5 singles. Kaidyn Purdy/Sam Janssen won a 10-6 tiebreaker in set 3 after splitting the first two sets. They’ll be back in action Tuesday by hosting Waverly-Shell Rock at 4:15.
