The Grundy Center girls track & field team was the champion with 98 points at Monday’s Hudson Relays. Medalists:
Ava Heeren – 1st in 100
4×400 – 1st
Sprint Medley – 1st
Distance Medley – 1st
Allison Koch – 2nd in high jump
Ava Heeren – 3rd in 200
Maddy Hendershot – 3rd in 400
Shuttle Hurdle Relay – 3rd
Up next for the Spartans is a home meet Thursday. On Friday, Allison Koch will compete in the high jump and Grace Storjohann will compete in the 800 at the Drake Relays.
“It’s a lot of fun, it’s not the end goal for us by any means, but it’s really nice to have our kids recognized against all classes of schools and be able to compete against big schools,” Head Coach Todd Rohler says. “Allison and Grace both went up to Waterloo West to try to better their time and height. And it was fun to run against the bigger schools. So it’s a pleasure.”
The high jump will start at 11:00 a.m. and the 800 will be at 1:40 p.m.
