Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host Agronomy in the Field, a multi-session, hands-on workshop being offered to women, and it will be held in Franklin County.

The workshop will be taught by Iowa State Extension Field Agronomist Angie Rieck-Hinz.

“Take some time to like do some scouting, learn some scouting techniques, identify insects, diseases, weed, how to do management, right? What kind of management tactics you need. Talk a lot about planting, why we plant, when we plant, why we plant, at the depth we plant. So everything we do is in the field unless it’s raining, right? And then we go inside and I talk a lot. We do a lot of hands-on stuff in the field. So any women that are interested, right? This is for women who farm, women who maybe work off the farm but are married to a farmer, any industry person, any industry female, and any generally interested woman who wants to learn more about agriculture, at least crop production.”

The first workshop is scheduled for April 29th from 5:30-7pm.  The fee to register is $50, with a discounted rate of $30 for high school or college students.

For more information or to register, call either 515-231-28-30 or 641-648-48-50.
