A 21-year-old Hampton man, who originally faced four felony charges, was sentenced Monday in Hardin County District Court.

The state alleged that Jakyb Kapp was involved in an incident with a female under the age of 14 in Hardin County on December 22nd, 2023.  The original charges filed against him were for 2nd degree sexual abuse, 3rd degree sexual abuse, for lascivious acts with a child, and for enticing a minor-sexual purpose.

Kapp entered a guilty plea to the lascivious acts with a child charge, and had requested a deferred judgment, which was denied Monday by District Court Judge Amy Moore.

Kapp received a 10-year suspended prison sentence, and was placed on 5-years of supervised probation.  In addition, he will be on the sex offender registry for life, and will also be on a special sentence for life.

If convicted on the original charges, Kapp could have been sentenced for up to 50-years in prison.
