Monday weatherwise could have been much worse, as all the ingredients were in place for severe thunderstorms to develop.
However, a warm layer high up in the atmosphere, called a cap, forced many storms attempting to build up to die off.
If the cap would have been broken, all modes of severe weather, including tornadoes would have been more likely to occur, since the wind shear, atmospheric energy, and high dewpoints were already in place.
But by the time the sun had set, those factors also began to back off.
