A new trial date has been set for a 59-year-old Iowa Falls woman charged with one count of child endangerment.
The state alleges Penny Caruth, who has been a daycare provider, struck a child multiple times with a paddle.
According to the criminal complaint, the child was struck 5 times, and cried out in pain after each hit.
Her jury trial had been scheduled to begin Thursday, but is now set to begin June 5th at 9am.
If convicted, Caruth could be sentenced for up to 5-years in prison.
