Today the Hardin County Board of Supervisors approved two contracts for asphalt resurfacing work.
The first will be for a portion of county highway D-47 between county highway S-27 and U-S Highway 65. This is a bigger job of the two due to the fact that the S-27/D-47 intersection will be redone and turned into a “T” intersection per a safety study done by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
This project involves adding 4 inches of hot mix asphalt to the roadway.
The other project is on county highway S-33 between the City of Hubbard and U-S Highway 65/Highway 175. This project also involves adding 4 inches of hot mix asphalt.
There were 5 total bidders, with Manatt’s, Incorporated of Brooklyn, Iowa getting both jobs for a total of $2,685,532, which was just slightly under the engineer’s estimate of 2-point-7-million dollars.
