The Hampton-Dumont-CAL soccer teams split a home doubleheader with Clear Lake Wednesday. The girls lost 7-0 and the boys won 4-2.
The girls were unable to slow down a Clear Lake team that increased a win streak to three games.
In the boys game, Fernando Mota recorded a hat trick by scoring the first three goals. He scored twice in the first half for a 2-0 lead, but the Lions responded to tie the game at halftime. Mota scored again in the second half to regain the lead for good, and Christian Zavala put the game out of reach with the final goal.
Both teams will return to action Thursday at Wright County. The girls will play at 5:30, followed by the boys at 7:30.
In other Thursday action, the girls golf team will join Gladbrook-Reinbeck at a triangular at AGWSR at 4:15. The boys tennis team will be at Aplington-Parkersburg at 4:15, entering on a win streak of two straight duals.
