
The Hampton-Dumont-CAL track and field teams hosted 13 areas teams for the Jim Basye Coed Relays on Friday. The Forest City girls and boys were the team champions. The Bulldog boys placed third in the team race and the girls finished in ninth place.

“It feels good with the home crowd and everybody. A lot of people here, just the support, it’s nice,” says Morton. “I think I have pretty good technique. I’ve been working on it since I was in elementary, so I think I have pretty good technique. I know there’s still little things to work on. Going into the meet, I want to stay calm, relaxed, just feel good, don’t overthink anything. Conference, I know it’s a bigger meet, but just all the meets are the same. It’s a bigger meet, same with districts, but all the meets are the same. I just got to treat it like every other meet.”

Both teams will be at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura for a meet on Monday.
The boys soccer team won their fifth match in a row, with an 8-0 win at Charles City on Friday. Christian Zavala and Fernando Mota each netted two goals apiece to lead the Bulldogs. Goalkeeper Jose Aragon-Mendez secured his fourth shutout performance of the year. The Bulldogs (7-1-2) will host Webster City on Monday.
The boys golf team finished in third at home triangular with 197 strokes, Clear Lake was the champion with a 162. The girls golf team finished in third at Clear Lake triangular with 256 strokes, Clear Lake was the champion with 195 strokes. Both teams are scheduled to return to the course on Monday, with split dual meets against the Humboldt. The girls will be at home and the boys on the road.
