Aplington-Parkersburg Spring Sports Update – 5-6-25

Several Aplington-Parkersburg spring sports teams were in action Monday.

The boys tennis team won 8-1 at Union. They’ll be back in action at Tuesday’s NICL Tournament at Byrnes Park, which’ll start at 8:00 a.m. and run all day.

The boys golf team placed third with 323 strokes at the Sailor Invitational at Sunnyside Golf & Country Club. Mick Steege was the team’s top performer with 78 strokes. They’ll be back in action at Thursday’s conference meet at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.

The girls soccer team fell 4-0 at home to #8 (1A) Dike-New Hartford. They’ll return to action Thursday at Iowa Falls-Alden.

The #8 (2A) AP/DNH soccer team won 3-1 at Denver. The United scored twice in the first half and once in the second half to pull away. Aiden Merrill scored twice and Ty Luhring added one. They’ll be back in action Friday at North Fayette Valley.

The girls track & field team placed second with 105 points at their home Lady Falcon Relays. Medalists:

Ava Eddy – 1st in 400 hurdles
Shuttle hurdle relay – 2nd
Ava Eddy – 2nd in 100 hurdles
Avery Freund – 2nd in high jump
Emma Wolff – 2nd in long jump

4×200 – 3rd
Demi Buseman – 3rd in 800
4×400 – 3rd
Caylee Harken – 3rd in discus

The boys track & field team was fourth with 107 points at the Denver Coed Relays. Medalists:

4×400 – 1st
Sprint medley relay – 1st
Distance medley relay – 1st
Owen Pruisner – 1st in 400 hurdles
4×100 – 2nd
4×200 – 2nd
Emerick Nolte – 3rd in 1600
Emerick Nolte – 3rd in 3200
Kellen Reints – 3rd in high jump
Maison Copp – 3rd in shot put

Both track & field teams will return to action at Thursday’s NICL Mega Meet at Jesup.
