The Clarksville track and field teams will take part in the Iowa Star Conference meet hosted by Baxter on Thursday.
The girls track and field team ranks top three in conference in multiple events. In relays they hold the best time in 4×100 (51.73) and the second best time in 4×200 (1:52.63) and sprint medley relay (1:58.54). Emmalee Manwarren has the best 200m time (26.64) and second best 100m (13.01) and long jump (16-09.50) mark. Paige Kampman has the top 100m time (12.92), and third best 200m (27.13) and long jump (16-04.75) mark. Head Coach Darren Bohlen on perseverant roster and his reminder to them entering the biggest meets.
“Right now we have six girls that are running and participating. The quality of our kids, I think we can compete for a top three finish,” says Bohlen. “That’s probably going to be the biggest obstacle that we have to face is ourselves, what we’re thinking and just trying to stay positive. The kids just have to look back, rely on their training, what they’re good at and just compete. That’s all you can do.”
For the boys, Dawson Barnett has the top shot put distance (49-06.50) and second best discus mark (146-07) in the conference. Leyton Reints has the fifth best shot put distance (44-04).
The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Baxter.
The boys golf team with 389 strokes placed eighth at Iowa Star Conference meet on Wednesday. The top round for the Indians was by Camden Behrends with a score of 89, tying for sixth place. They return to the course on Friday to host a dual meet against North Tama.
