A 34-year-old Mason City man entered a guilty plea in United States Federal Court at Sioux City Wednesday to the charges of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, and for illegal possession of a firearm.

Jacob Shafer was previously convicted of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, and trafficking in stolen weapons in Iowa in March of 2022.

In March 2024, during the execution of a search warrant at Shafer’s home, law enforcement seized four bags of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and several guns with ammunition.

Shafer faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5-years in federal prison on the drug charge, and not more than 15-years in prison on the firearm charge.

A sentencing date has not been set.
