The Iowa State Patrol was called out on the report of a two vehicle accident in Floyd County along Highway 218 Friday.

The accident took place just after 8am and involved two vehicles, one a northbound John Deere tractor with a planter being driven by 54-year-old William Ruzicka of Charles City.  At the same time, a Ford F650 heavy duty commercial truck, driven by 37-year-old Trevor Winfrey of Rockwell, who was also traveling northbound struck the planter, which caused it to spin, enter the ditch and flip.

Ruzicka was ejected from the tractor, while the truck driven by Winfrey came to rest upright in a ditch.

Both men were taken to the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City for treatment of unknown injuries.  The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
