Several Aplington-Parkersburg spring sports teams will be in action Monday.
Along with girls tennis individual state qualifying, the DNH/AP girls golf team will join the rest of the league schools for the North Iowa Cedar League Tournament at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course in Waterloo. The 18-hole tournament will start at 10:00 a.m. and run throughout the afternoon.
The track & field teams will compete in their final regular season meets. Coming off a runner-up team finish at the conference meet, the girls will be at Denver at 4:30.
“The way we train, we use the meats as really our hard conditioning,” Head Coach Alex Pollock says. “We don’t do a ton of killer practices or anything like that because we want to stay healthy. So it’s kind of a mystery as to where exactly we’re going to be. But what we do know is we’re at our best right now in the season. We’re pretty healthy right now, which is the goal, obviously. And I think our girls have gained a lot of confidence. So where that takes us, I have no idea. But we feel a whole lot better about it than we did even a week ago.”
The boys will host several schools from the NICL and Iowa Star Conference for the Falcon Boys Invite at 4:45.
The soccer teams will play in a doubleheader in New Hartford. The girls will take on #8 (1A) Dike-New Hartford in their penultimate regular season game at 5:00, and will go for revenge after falling 4-0 to the Wolverines earlier in the season.
The #8 (2A) AP/DNH boys will take on Independence at 7:00. The teams have met in each season since 2022, with the United having won all three prior meetings. Both games will air on 99 The Wave.
