Parkersburg native Owen Thomas has been named the next head coach of the Grundy Center boys basketball program, pending school board approval. The district made the announcement Monday.
The son of Aplington-Parkersburg principal and boys basketball coach Aaron Thomas, he graduated high school in 2021. He joined the Grundy Center district as a teacher and volunteer assistant coach in January 2025, and will take over for the outgoing Brent Thoren.
The program has qualified for two straight state tournaments.
