The IHSAA sectional golf tournaments will happen Wednesday. In a slightly adjusted advancement criteria from previous seasons, the top three teams from each sectional will advance to the district tournament. The top two individuals, plus ties, from non-qualifying teams will also advance from each sectional.
3A Sectional at Okoboji: Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden. Those advancing from this sectional will compete at the 3A district at MOC-Floyd Valley.
“Quite the drive,” Hampton-Dumont-CAL coach Trevor Eiklenborg says. “We’re actually going to go Tuesday, the day before and get a practice round in that night and then go out to eat and stay there. And then we’ll go to the tournament the next day. But yeah, lots of familiar faces. So we’ll know them well. Anything you did before sectionals doesn’t really matter that day. If we have four players that can shoot a really good round, we’ll let the results be what the results are, but that’s kind of the goal.”
2A Sectional at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows: Aplington-Parkersburg, Belmond-Klemme, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. Those advancing from this sectional will compete at the 2A district at Lake Mills.
2A Sectional at Roland-Story: Dike-New Hartford, Grundy Center, South Hardin. Those advancing from this sectional will compete at the 2A district at Dike-New Hartford.
1A Sectional at Nashua-Plainfield: AGWSR, Clarksville, North Butler, West Fork. Those advancing from this sectional will compete at the 1A district at Newman Catholic.
Those who advance will compete in the district meets on Monday, May 19.
