The Class 2A State Girls Golf Tournament will no longer take place at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike, the IGHSAU announced Wednesday.
According to IGHSAU Golf Administrator Ben Van Wyk, he and other officials assessed the condition of the greens last week. They observed areas of discoloration, which were identified as “patches of winter kill.” A treatment plan was implemented in an effort to improve the greens.
Despite these efforts and ongoing communication, the course staff expressed concerns that the greens were not responding as they hoped. After discussion, they mutually agreed it would be in everyone’s best interest to move the location of the 2A tournament as soon as possible, rather than wait another week to see if course conditions improved.
The tournament instead will be held at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
