Coverage area of drought conditions increases in Iowa

The latest U-S Drought Monitor Report shows that through Tuesday morning, the coverage area for no drought conditions in Iowa dropped to 39-point-31 percent from 48-point-99 percent from the week before.

The coverage area for the abnormally dry conditions increased by over 9 percent in the past week, while there was also a slight increase in the moderate drought category.

One year ago, over 52 percent of Iowa was drought free.
