The Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls soccer team fell 5-0 at Webster City in Monday’s 1A Region 8 first round game, ending their season in a game that aired on 99 The Wave.
The Lynx got two goals early in the first half, but the Bulldogs created pressure with their defense to limit their opponents throughout the rest of the half. Webster City scored three more in the second half to seal the game.
“They left it all on the field like we talked about before we started,” Head Coach Ben Schlachter says. “I think if we had more numbers, it might have been a little bit different. First half was really solid. Our defense really is, that’s been our catalyst all year. And in my opinion, we have the best goalie in the state, in Madison Heilskov. And her and Mallory Rieken lead that charge. So extremely proud of the way the girls fought, the way they were still high in spirits, laughing and having fun, regardless of what the scoreboard said.”
Madison Heilskov recorded 14 saves. The season has ended at 0-14-1.
