For the second consecutive season, the Dike-New Hartford girls tennis team has qualified for the state tournament. The Wolverines went 2-0 while battling through rain delays in Grinnell.

They started the day with a 5-0 win against the hosts in the semifinal. Izzy Norton won a 10-5 tiebreaker set 3 to take the #1 singles match. The rest of the singles matches were two-set sweeps.

The win set up a regional final dual against North Polk, which beat Union 5-2 in the semifinal. DNH won four singles matches, including Izzy Norton at #1, Addy Joslin at #3, Lauren Muller at #4 and Haley Badker at #5. Needing one doubles win to clinch the dual, the #1 pair of Izzy Norton/Aida Tott won 6-2, 6-0 to notch the sealing fifth win.

The first round of the state tournament will be Saturday against an opponent and in a location to be determined, due to many of Tuesday’s duals being rescheduled to Wednesday.
