
Day 1 of the IHSAA State Golf Championships was completed Tuesday, marking the halfway point of competition.
In the 2A tournament at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo, Grundy Center is in second place at +21. Preston Martens and Judd Jirovsky are tied for fifth at +3. Jaxon Kiewiet is tied for 20th at +7 and Eli Wegmann is tied for 23rd at +8.
Aplington-Parkersburg is in third place at +30. Caleb Campbell is in fourth place at +1, by far the team’s highest placing golfer. Nate Peters is tied for 35th at +10, Brandon Hartbarger is tied for 42nd at +11 and Rylan Ascher and Mick Steege are tied for 47th at +12.
In the 1A tournament at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo, West Fork is in sixth place at +49. Levi Staudt leads the team in 15th place at +9. Jordan Demaray and Nolan Shreckengost are tied for 30th at +12, and Aiden Rembe is tied for 43rd at +16.
The final 18 holes of each tournament will start Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
