Bronco Baseball to play at Principal Park Monday

The Belmond-Klemme baseball team has a unique opportunity to play at Principal Park, the home of the Iowa Cubs. They’ll take on Garner Hayfield Ventura Monday at 12:00 p.m., a game that’ll air on 104.9 KLMJ.

First-year head coach Cory Yoder on the opportunity.

“It’s going to be an awesome atmosphere,” Yoder says. “Our kids are really looking forward to it. Garner Hayfield Ventura’s coach, Ken Kraus, is a great guy. He’s a good friend of mine who I coached under the last couple years at GHV. It’s going to be a tough game. They’re in almost the same boat as us. They’re really young, too. They have Lucas Kral, who’s the state runner-up and a third-place finisher for their wrestling team, a really good pitcher. And they have Brighton Kraus, who’s a good shortstop. This will be a very tough game, we’re going to be ready to go. Our kids are excited. I promise you that it’s going to be a fun atmosphere for the Belmond-Klemme Broncos.”

The Broncos (0-4) will go for their first win after falling to Eagle Grove 8-1 on the road Friday, and will look to increase a team batting average of .067. Brody Heifner leads at .182.

Coverage will start at 11:45 a.m.
