The North Butler baseball team will face Clarksville in Butler County rivalry on Thursday.
North Butler (1-7) will look to bounce back from Wednesday’s 10-0 home loss to Osage. Chris Witte leads the Bearcat bats with four RBI’s. Brody Wangsness on the hill leads the team with 1.47 ERA and 40 strikeouts.
Head Coach Chase Stohr on a strong start for Wangsness on the hill and timely hitting.
“We have a good chance of winning anytime he’s on the mound. He throws hard, has a good breaking ball. We generally play pretty good defense behind him,” says Stohr. “We just gotta hit the ball. At the end of the day, it’s tough to win when you can’t score. The main thing we gotta focus on is getting some timely hitting, two out hitting, and make sure the kids are staying aggressive when they’re in the box.”
Clarksville (1-3) won their first game of the season 7-6 over Dunkerton on Wednesday, earning a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh inning. Six different players for the Indians each recorded an RBI. Sam Hoodjer worked five innings with six strikeouts in a no decision.
Clarksville will look for their first win in the series since 2021 after North Butler has won the last three meetings.
The first pitch will be at 7:30 p.m. in Clarksville.
