Belmond-Klemme Softball Wins Tournament Title at Colo Nesco on Saturday

The Belmond-Klemme softball team galloped to a 2-0 outing and a tournament title at the Colo Nesco tournament on Saturday. The Broncos won 4-3 over Colo-Nesco and won 26-6 over Coon Rapids-Bayard in four innings. 

Against Colo Nesco, B-K scored two runs in the first inning to take an early 2-1 advantage. The Broncos added a run in the second and fourth innings for some breathing room and a 4-1 lead. The Royals rallied with two runs in the fifth to cut their deficit to 4-3. The Broncos defense kept the Royals from scoring an equalizer over the final two innings, to hold on to a one run win. Kaylen Morris, Jordyn Muhlenbruch and Ella Negrete each drove in a run for the Broncos. Morris in the circle pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs with eight strikeouts for the win.

Against Coon Rapids-Bayard, after trailing 3-0 the Broncos sprinted back into the lead with 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning, to go up 13-2. The Broncos kept the offense rolling with four runs in the second and seven in the third inning to take a 24-3 lead. The Crusaders scored three runs in the top of the fourth to get within a 24-6 deficit. The Broncos ended the game early with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Eight different Broncos drove in a run led by Jordyn Muhlenbruch with three RBI and Jadyn Jass with two RBI. Kaylen Morris pitched two innings allowing three earned runs with four strikeouts for the win. 

The last time the Broncos scored over 20 runs was in 2023, with a 22-16 win against Forest City. 

Belmond-Klemme (6-1) has won three straight games and will be at Forest City on Monday.
