A 59-year-old Iowa Falls woman has been sentenced on a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
The state originally charged Penny Caruth with one count of child endangerment, after she was alleged to have struck a child multiple times with a paddle, as she has been a daycare provider.
Caruth received a suspended sentence of 10-days in jail, was fined $430, and was placed on one year of unsupervised probation.
The child endangerment charge was a class “D” felony, punishable by up to 5-years in prison.
