West Fork, North Butler to meet for second time Wednesday

The North Butler summer sports teams will host West Fork Wednesday in the second meeting between the programs this season. The baseball game will air on 104.9 KLMJ.

The Warhawk baseball team (4-5, 2-3 TOI-E) will look to bounce back from a two-game losing streak, having lost to Osage 8-4 Monday in their most recent game. They’ll go for a better offensive production than the last time the teams met, where the Warhawks won despite not recording a hit.

“It was a pitcher’s duel, we didn’t have a hit and somehow ended up winning the game,” Head Coach Kayden Ames says. “Brody Wangsness threw a great game and Trevor did on our side. I’m not sure who was gonna throw at them yet, but weird turning around and playing them this fast again.”

The Bearcats (3-7, 1-6 TOI-E) have won two straight, including 3-0 over Nashua-Plainfield Monday, where Brody Wangsness pitched the complete game with 16 strikeouts and no walks.

The game will start at 7:30 p.m., with pregame coverage starting at 7:15.

The North Butler softball team (7-5, 3-4 TOI-E) has picked up momentum with several wins over the last week with a five-game win streak, including a 12-4 win over Rockford Tuesday. Led by Zoey Thompson’s .484 average, Head Coach Austin Guerrero says the offense is heading in the right direction.

“We preach confidence up there, and I know hitting the ball is easier said than done,” Guerrero says. “But I think our approach game by game up to this point has gotten better and better, and that’s all you can ask. If we continue to improve and continue to grow our confidence up in the box, we’re gonna be a tough team and that’s just what we’re excited to see, how it unfolds as we get to the middle part of the season on.”

#4 (2A) West Fork (7-1, 4-1 TOI-E) will look to bounce back from its first loss, 9-8 in nine innings at home to #9 (2A) Osage Monday.

It’ll start at 6:00.
