The Hardin County Board of Supervisors Wednesday advanced plans to formally explore declaring Emergency Medical Services as an essential service.
The board approved publication of public hearing dates, set for August 20th, August 27th, and September 8th, as part of the required legal process to consider the EMS designation under Iowa law.
An advisory committee will be formed with representatives from each township and community to evaluate service needs, funding mechanisms, and best practices from other counties. Public involvement is strongly encouraged, and notices will be posted in official locations, online, and through city councils and township boards.
