
Severe thunderstorms struck portions of the broadcast area late Wednesday afternoon into the evening.
One of the strongest wind gusts reported was 71 miles per hour 5 miles southeast of Kanawha in Wright County about 5:20pm.
Other wind gusts were reported at between 58-61 miles per hour, with small to large tree branches reported down in Belmond.
More widely scattered thunderstorms will redevelop across Iowa this afternoon and evening, and a few of these storms could be strong to severe in northern and northeastern Iowa.
Wind and hail will be the main threats with any severe thunderstorms. Locally heavy rain may also be possible. The highest threat will be from 5-10pm today.
