Iowa Falls-Alden Softball Wins Late Inning Thriller Thursday, Baseball in Action Friday

The Iowa Falls-Alden softball team with some extra inning heroics walked off Webster City 3-2 in nine innings on Thursday. It was the Cadets first win over the Lynx since 2018, ending an 11 game slide against them.

Webster City struck first for a 1-0 advantage in the third. The Cadets took their first lead at 2-1 in the fifth inning behind two RBIs by Cidni Phipps. The Lynx tied it at 2-2 during their final regulation at bats in the seventh. With two outs in the ninth, the Cadets Vada Campbell drove in Izzy Janssen with an RBI single to walk it off. 

Phipps, in the circle for the Cadets, allowed one earned run with six strikeouts in the complete game win.

Iowa Falls-Alden (5-4, 3-3 NCC) will be off until Monday, when they will host #7 (1A) Saint Edmond. 

The Iowa Falls-Alden baseball team (5-7) after a few rare week days off will host Gilbert (7-6) in non-conference on Friday. The Cadets last time out earned a 4-3 comeback win at home over AGWSR on Tuesday. First pitch is at 7:30 p.m. at Cadet Field.
