Bulldogs head to Janesville Tuesday after postponement Monday

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL summer sports teams were scheduled to host Algona in North Central Conference play Monday, but both events were postponed. The baseball doubleheader has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 19, and the softball game was rescheduled to Thursday, June 26.

Both teams will return to action Tuesday in non-conference action at Janesville, with the softball game airing on 104.9 KLMJ. The softball team was last in action Friday, a 6-5 loss at Humboldt. That night, the Wildcats scored four runs in the third inning to do the bulk of their damage, and late-inning consistent scoring by the Bulldogs came up short. Janesville is coming off a 5-3 win over North Tama in Iowa Star Conference action Monday, where they gave up two runs in the seventh inning. Lauren Meaney bats .444 to lead the way, and the team has won four of five. Coverage will start at 4:45, followed by the first pitch at 5:00.

The baseball team has picked up steam after a slow start, having won three of their last four games. In their last game, they walked off North Butler for a 3-2 win after surrendering two runs to the Bearcats in the top of the seventh inning. After giving up a run in the top of the seventh, Janesville earned a walk-off 5-4 win over North Tama Monday with a run scored in the seventh inning. They’ve won five of their last six games, and are led by Talan Pletz with a .500 batting average. The game will start at 5:00.
