#1 (1A) Clarksville Softball Opened the Week with a Pair of Ranked Wins

The #1 (1A) Clarksville softball team scored a run or more in five of seven innings to earn a 7-2 win over #13 (3A) Sumner-Fredricksburg on Tuesday. It was the Indians’ second ranked road win in a row after a 13-2 win in four innings over #13 (1A) Collins Maxwell on Monday.

After a 1-1 through the first two innings, Clarksville built a lead in the third by driving in three runs. The Cougars added a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the Indians’ advantage to 4-2. Clarksville scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to pull away for their sixth road win of the season.

Sydney Lovrien, in the circle for the Indians, pitched a complete game with two walks, two strikeouts and allowed only one earned run. Eve Jordan had three RBIs, Paige Kampman went 4-4 with two RBIs and Hannah Wangsness had one RBI.

Clarksville (14-0) will play at BCLUW (12-2) in Iowa Star Conference action on Wednesday at 7:30.
