The Aplington-Parkersburg summer sports teams will host Columbus Catholic Thursday. The baseball team will play a doubleheader and the softball team will play a doubleheader after completing a previously suspended game.
The baseball team will look to continue momentum built from Tuesday’s 10-1 win at Belle Plaine, where they scored eight runs in the sixth to pull away. Columbus enters 1-4 in the NICL-Central, with the lone win happening against Hudson last week. AP won 6-4 when the teams met earlier in the season. It’ll start at 5:00.
The softball team has won two of its last four, including 13-5 in five innings at Belle Plaine Tuesday. That night, Avery Freund had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs to lead offensively. Columbus is coming off a 6-1 loss to Oelwein Monday and is 3-9. The suspended game will resume at 4:15.
