Spartan, Tigers meeting in summer sports Thursday

The Grundy Center summer sports teams will travel to South Hardin for NICL-West games Thursday. The baseball game will air on 99 The Wave.

The Spartans are coming off Wednesday’s 14-3 win at Columbus Catholic, where they scored in all but two innings, including five in the seventh to pull away.
South Hardin has won 11 straight, including 2-1 over South Hamilton Tuesday in non-conference action. In the streak, they’ve given up more than two runs to an opponent once.

“They’re the team to beat,” South Hardin coach Nathan Weig says.” We went over there earlier this season for a doubleheader and didn’t play good baseball at all. The weather conditions weren’t ideal, but at the same time they had to play through the same thing. So I think our guys would kind of like to get the sour taste back out of their mouth and see if we can get one at home against them. So we’ll definitely be ready for that game and hope to give it our best effort.”

Grundy Center swept a doubleheader in the first meeting between the teams this season. It’ll start at 7:00 with pregame coverage starting at 6:45.

The Grundy Center softball team is coming off a 10-1 win over #9 (2A) East Marshall Monday, which they ended in five innings. South Hardin will look to snap a 10-game losing streak, with their last game being a 13-1, five-inning home loss to South Hamilton Tuesday. The Spartans swept a doubleheader between the teams earlier this season. It’ll start at 5:00.
