The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department, in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Revenue, Alcohol and Tax Compliance Division, recently conducted alcohol compliance checks on retail liquor establishments in Cerro Gordo County.
As a result of the compliance checks, employees from two establishments were cited for selling alcohol to someone under the age of 21. They include employees at the Pleasant Valley Golf Club in Thornton and Linn Grove Country Club in Rockwell.
The scheduled fine for this violation is $645 plus court costs.
By partnering with the IDR, local law enforcement agencies hope to educate liquor licensed employees and maintain a compliant retail environment in their communities.
The Iowa Department of Revenue also offers free online training, called I-PACT. The program focuses on preventing underage sales and sales to intoxicated patrons.
