Hampton-Dumont Superintendent Aaron Becker is wrapping up his third and final year at the district.

It was announced in December that Becker would be leaving to take over the superintendent position at Prairie City-Monroe. Becker tells RadioOnTheGo News that it was a tough decision to leave the district but knows it will be in good hands.

“One of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my career. An opportunity presented itself and it was just something that I had to consider and start thinking about family. The position definitely gets me a proximity to a lot of my family, but also my parents and my wife’s family too. So it’s just something that we felt like at this time, it was the right thing that we had to do. And when I say it was the hardest thing I’ve done, it really was. Hampton-Dumont is and will be a place in my heart for forever. Things have been going really well here. We’ve really made some great strides with things that we’ve done, culture that we’ve built, and momentum I think that’s happening within the district.”

Tim Felderman will take over as the district’s next superintendent. Felderman comes from West Delaware where he has served as high school principal since 2015. Becker says communication with Felderman has made the transition easier for both of them.

“It’s been really good over the last couple of months. You know, that’s the good thing with Tim being hired a few months ago that I’ve had an opportunity to talk with him often, just have regular conversations through the phone, have video conferences, or that he’ll come here in person just to talk through many different items, get him up to speed so that once he gets here July 1st, that he can hit the ground running, not have a ton of time of catching up. So hoping to do a lot of that right at the moment. Yep. He was here and was able to walk through the new spaces with us, but then also just to be part of a board meeting and what that board meeting looks like on a regular basis.”

Becker and Felderman will officially begin their new roles at their respective schools July 1st.
