The Grundy Center City Council this week passed on the third and final readings two ordinance amendments, one to increase the water rates by 2 percent effective July 1st, the other to increase the sewer rates by 2 percent, also effective July 1st.
In other business, the Grundy Center council passed on the first reading an ordinance amendment concerning fireworks. This amendment will align the city code to the new state law regarding fireworks for July 3rd, July 4th, and December 31st.
The council also authorized an increase in wages of employees who carry licenses for the Public Works Department. This will increase the employee hourly rate by 30-cents per hour per license.
