Cadets earn three wins over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Monday

The Iowa Falls-Alden summer sports teams had a successful night in Monday’s home games against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. The softball team won 11-0 in four innings. The baseball team swept a doubleheader 7-2 and 5-4.

In the softball game, the Cadets scored 10 runs in the first inning to create separation, eventually leading to a run margin rule win.

In the first baseball game, the Cadets got on the board with three runs in the first inning and added more in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Cowboys generated offense by scoring both of their runs in the sixth inning, but got no closer. Raine Pitre had a home run and was the winning pitcher.

In the second game, each team scored two in the third and two in the fifth in a back-and-forth game. But Brady Lancaster drove in the winning run on a single in the seventh inning, finishing off the sweep.

In their next action, the Cadet softball team will host #7 (1A) St. Edmond Tuesday and the baseball team will be at Southeast Valley Thursday. The Cowboy baseball team will host Central Springs Tuesday and the softball team will host Algona Wednesday.
