A rural Steamboat Rock man, who has been active on the Hardin County GOP Central Committee, says he is running for a seat on the Hardin County Board of Supervisors.
During his career, Roger Sutton has worked at all kinds of jobs, and currently lives on a farmstead.
Sutton tells RadioOnTheGo News that the decision by Governor Reynolds to veto the pipeline bill earlier this month was not the right decision.
“Eminent domain is a big deal. Taking someone’s property for private capital gain is wrong. Not happy about the governor’s veto at all. I’m a bit surprised that this bill finally got there and I hope that they can bring it back to the table and I don’t know if we can wait till next year to deal with it. This is a big deal.”
Sutton grew up on a farm in eastern Iowa, and says projects like a pipeline are not good for agricultural land.
“Once you move that soil, it’s never the same. If you go across hundreds of miles of the best soil in the world that produces more food for more people, you’ve done damage. I don’t care what you say.”
The two Hardin County Board of Supervisors who are up for election in 2026 are Lance Granzow and Renee McClellan.
