30-years ago Friday, Jodi Huisentruit was abducted on her way to work at KIMT-TV in Mason City, from the parking lot of her apartment building.

The investigation continues, but no arrests have been made, and the last person to talk with her was former KIMT anchor and producer Amy Kuns.

“I do feel like everything happens for a reason and I am stronger now because of it. The world is such a crazy place right now that if I can help somebody get through a traumatic event like this, for example, there are so many shootings out there today. If I can post a blog or write a book or, you know, even if I just have one person get through a tragedy, then I will feel like I have done what I’m supposed to do.”

Kuns has had to seek professional help over the years from what took place.

“I did my own little memorial service for Jodi in the Winnebago River behind the Key Apartments where she lived. I got three red roses, one for the past, one for the present, one for the future. The past that Jodi and I had, the present of letting go and the future hoping that we would someday find out what happened.”

FindJodi.com will host a gathering Friday at 11am to observe the 30th anniversary of Huisentruit’s disappearance in front of KIMT-TV in Mason City.
