A military escort from the Des Moines International Airport to Iowa Falls is scheduled today for 19-year-old Corporal Melvin Lloyd Huff of Eldora, formerly of Iowa Falls.
Huff was shot down in January of 1945 while serving in the U-S Army Air Force as a crew member on an A-20G Havoc bomber in New Guinea.
Late in 2022, his remains were located by an underwater recovery team, and later positively identified.
Today’s military escort will depart the airport in Des Moines about 7:15-7:30pm, with the planned route using Interstate 35 to U-S Highway 20, and then to Linn’s Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
A graveside service for Huff will take place Saturday at 1pm at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.
