The Franklin County Board of Supervisors this week approved a quote from Beeline & Blue of Des Moines to have the original courthouse blueprints scanned to be digitally retained.

This is Franklin County Auditor Katy Flint.

“And you have to be so careful when you’re rolling and unrolling. And as it is, a lot of them are losing like pieces on the sides.”

The original blueprints were drawn as color pencil sketches.

“If they turn out well is to have a couple of the neater ones. The original courthouse banister from the inside and stuff like that, have them printed, matted and framed. Be able to put around the courthouse. But we just want to get them scammed first.”

The Franklin County Courthouse was designed by Minneapolis architect Truman Dudley Allen, construction began in 1890, and the building was completed in 1891.
