The Clear Lake Fire Association has announced the launch of a fundraising campaign for a new bronze statue honoring both the firefighters who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, and the firefighters who have served Clear Lake.  This addition will become a permanent feature of the 9/11 Memorial at the Clear Lake Fire Station.  The statue will depict a firefighter seated on a bench, gazing at a piece of steel recovered from the North Tower of the World Trade Center.  The sculpture will take over one year to complete, with an unveiling ceremony planned for September 11th, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

The Clear Lake Fire Department says a generous 30-thousand dollar challenge gift has been given by an anonymous donor.  The first 10-thousand dollars is an outright gift from the anonymous donor, and the donor will donate an additional 20-thousand dollars as a matching grant.  Members of the fire department have already contributed 5-thousand dollars toward the estimated total project cost at just over 65-thousand dollars.

Donations can be made payable to the Clear Lake Fire Association, P-O Box 332, Clear Lake, with a zip code of 50428.
