Head Coach Pacen Hendricks on the matchup, a solid night for Jacobs and postseason prep the Iowa Star provides.
“A tough note to end on. I hope we’d come out with a win or a little bit more competitive of a ball game going into postseason play. Dunkerton’s, I think, a better team than their record indicates sometimes. We will pick up the pieces and a couple more games before districts,” says Hendricks. “Absolutely, he really picked it up. Had a little slump, like everyone does in baseball, but he’s really picked his at bats up towards the end of the year. It’s the right time to do it. It’s a lot of tough competition night in and night out. We’re learning to play every night still. I think we got caught in one of those tonight, but definitely prepares you on a nightly basis.”
Jacobs had three RBIs and Behrends drove in a run for the Indians. The Indians used three pitchers in the game, led by Maddox Morrison, who worked 4.1 innings with six strikeouts. Clarksville (5-14, 4-12 Iowa Star North) will host Turkey Valley on Wednesday in their home finale.
